A group of students from Manchester Metropolitan University recruited a team together in order to join a local student football league.
The students felt that approaching a pub for sponsorship and forming a bond with such an establishment would enhance the experience. They were successful, as the owner of St Kentigern’s Social Club, Kevin Fitzpatrick, agreed to buy the team a full kit with the companies name and slogan being printed on the front.
The relationship doesn’t end there. After every game on a Wednesday, the guys are all invited back to the club, where food and music are put on for them, creating a great environment to bond and form further friendships post-match.
Kevin Fitzpatrick said he is delighted to be helping the lads out: “I’m very pleased and honoured that I could support them, and when they come back here after a game it creates a great feel and link between the University and the social club.”
St Kentigern’s player’s range from 1st year students to those in the final years of their studies, meaning the team will be losing a few members next season and looking to recruit new members to replace them next season. It’s a great way to get out there, meet new friends and get some much-needed exercise in.
If interested in getting involved in such a set up then e-mail the team on their official FaceBook page for further information.
