A charity darts exhibition was held last Friday Night at the ‘Forum’ in Wythenshawe raised over £600 for the Ashley Cricket Club in Altrincham.

Among the eight entrants competing in the event were BDO World Champion Glen Durrant, former WCD Champion Dennis Priestley and 75th ranked in the world player Nathan Aspinall

The organiser of the event, Martin Howe, a local broker, set up the event in order to raise money for his local cricket side that needed money for new equipment to fulfil the use of a number of teams that play there.

The crowd packed out the Forum hall in Wythenshawe, and were chanting and shouting in true darts fashion throughout as beers, wine and cider were on sale.

There were even opportunities for the audience to have their photographs taken with their favourite darts stars.

After the event, Howe said. “Thank you to the players, all volunteers, the sponsors and those in the audience. The event was seven months in the making. People doubted we could pull the format, fill the room, and make the money, so it is down to each and every one of you that we succeeded and we hope you will support a similar event next year.”
