  • Cortex Events has a successful launch night

Two Man Met students who started up their own events management company had a resounding success at its launch night.

Alex Rodriguez and Joe Shaw, both students at MMU, have created their own events management company called Cortex events

The company will primarily host techno and tech house events.

They held their first event on 11 March at Hatch with a very successful turnout of 70 people.

The launch party attracted more than 70 people

Alex, 20, a business management student, said: “The event was a huge success, we had so many positive responses from people that attended. Everyone I’ve spoken to said they had a great time and that was our main aim.”

Economics and finance student Joe, 19, said: “I didn’t think we’d have so many people turn up. We’re looking forward to the future, we have big things planned!”

The company had four DJs booked for the launch party, two from Chester and two from Preston, who performed different styles of house and techno.

Laura Gould, 19, a psychology student, said: “I really enjoyed the event, it’s nice to see young people able to start their own companies and have some many others support it.

“I was also really impressed by the music, the DJs are also young guys. The company has great potential.”

They hosted their event at No.8 Cocktails in Hatch with the owner of the bar saying how pleased they were with such a positive turnout midweek.

Joe and Alex were planning to hold another event in May but this may be postponed due to the current coronavirus epidemic. Regardless, the duo have said they have big plans for the future, including possibly a boat party.
