Trains workers at Northern Rail are to go on strike this Saturday (24 March) in a row over pay.

About 150 workers are involve in the countrywide dispute, which includes Manchester, including the ticket barrier staff.

Mick Lynch, RMT general secretary, said: “Our members are once again taking strike action against a company who has shown no regard for their staff and is not willing to settle this dispute.

“We will continue our industrial campaign until we can reach a negotiated settlement.

“Ultimately, the only, long-term solution is to end contracting out and bring the gate line contract back in house with all the benefits of direct employment from Northern.”
