Player Ratings: Everton 1-1 Manchester United

  • Calamitous cameo from Maroune Fellaini ensured Manchester United fail to win a Premier league match once again
  • A clumsy late tackle from Belgian international on Idrissa Gueye allowed Everton’s Leighton Baines to equalise from the spot after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first-half opener.

M. Skelenburg (4) A moment of utter madness from the Dutch keeper allowed Ibrahimovic the opportunity to score the opening goal.

S. Coleman (6) Had a tightly contested battle against Martial, faring far better against the Frenchman than he did last season. However, he did not provide his team with his usual attacking threat.

A. Williams (6) A solid display from the former Swansea captain, who fared better than his centre-back partner

R. Funes Mori (5) Can be rash in a tackle and looked like a mistake waiting to happen but was bailed out a number of times by covering teammates.

L. Baines (6) Fared well against Mkhitaryan but led by example late on by coolly slotting away a penalty to equalise for his team.

G. Barry (5) Could have been sent off in the first half for two cynical fouls but was only booked the once.

T. Cleverly (4) The former Man Utd graduate was anonymous in the midfield was duly substituted in the second half.

I. Gueye (8) Did not allow Pogba and Herrera to control the midfield and was fouled late on by Fellaini to earn his side a late penalty. The best player on the pitch.

Y. Bolasie (5) Not his best game in an Everton shirt, could not provide style or substance to Everton’s attack.

K. Mirallas (6) Looked dangerous in the final third and forced De Gea into a brilliant reaction save.

R. Lukaku (6) The Belgian international was industrious for his side, working himself tirelessly for the cause of the team but wasn’t an attacking threat.

G. Deulofeu (6) Was more of an attacking threat on the right flank than Bolasie did. He was full of energy and running for Everton.

M. Holgate (6) Dealt well with the threat of both Martial and Rashford.

E. Valencia (6) Had a real chance to equalise but saw his headed effort go straight into the hands of De Gea

Man Utd

D. De Gea (7) The Spaniard was solid when called upon but had no chance with Baines’ late penalty.

A. Valencia (6) Wasn’t as adventurous as he has been in previous games but the Ecuadorian was solid throughout.

P. Jones (7) His place in the team now looks assured as he grows with confidence with each performance

M. Rojo (6) Should have been sent off for a two-footed tackle early in the game on Gueye.

M. Darmain (6) The Italian international had put in a solid performance and didn't allow Bolasie or Deulofeu to get by him but didn't venture forward with great conviction.

M. Carrick (6) Operated in his usual role in front of the back four and was composed on ball but didn’t make a huge impact on proceedings

A. Herrera (6) A relatively quiet afternoon for Herrera who was kept under shackles by Gueye – had a chance to double his sides led in the second half but hit the bar.

P. Pogba (7) Didn’t reach the level of performance that he has displayed in recent weeks. His link up play with Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic was impressive.

H. Mkhitaryan (7) Added dynamism to the United attack, his intelligent runs and dribbling ability caused Everton all sorts of problems.

Martial (7) The young Frenchman worked hard up and down the left flank and supported Darmian well defensively.

Ibrahimovic (7) Held the ball up expertly for his teammates throughout and scored a brilliantly executed lob over Stekelenburg.

M. Rashford (6) Wasn’t given enough time to make a significant impact on proceedings.

M. Fellaini (3) Made a calamitous cameo; he was brought on to deal with Everton’s aerial threat but ended up conceding a penalty after a clumsy tackle on Gueye.
