MMU student launches campaign to prevent ticket touting

  • NQ officially launched the #TicketToutsOut campaign today
  • Led by NQ reporter James Power, the campaign appeals for personalisation on tickets to high-profile events in an attempt to combat touts and bots

Ticket touts are being put under the microscope with many artists including Adele expressing their hate for them and the issue being discussed in Parliament in November.

Touts are using computer software commonly known as bots and even teams of people to buy up large allocations of tickets and then selling them for way above their face value.

Many think it’s a system that is pricing genuine fans out of attending the events they want to.

#TicketToutsOut is a student-run campaign by NQ reporter James Power, petitioning for Glastonbury style photo IDs on every ticket to high profile music events.

The aim is to make it impossible for tickets to make their way into the hands of touts who sell them on secondary outlets such as Viagogo, Seatwave and GetMeIn!
