75-year-old grandfather’s death labelled ‘suspicious’ by police

- The event took place on 29 January when Police were called to the scene and Geoffrey Ives was pronounced dead at a house near Rochdale.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have launched an investigation into the death of beloved grandfather, Geoffrey Ives.
Geoffrey Ives was pronounced dead at a house on Hardfield Street, Heywood, near Rochdale on 29 January after police were called.
DCI David Moores said: “Our enquiries have now brought us to a point in the investigation where we are able to appeal to members of the public to ask for more information”.
Ives’ family have paid tribute to him and said: “He has been there and supported us throughout our lives”.
His family remember him as someone who was “always putting us first”. He was also known as “the best dad, grandad, uncle and friend to us all”.
Officers are gathering evidence from the scene and the surrounding area.
