75-year-old man dies after bus accident near Piccadilly Gardens

An elderly man died after being hit by a coach near Manchester Piccadilly and died of his injuries in hospital the next day.

The 75 year old was in collision with a National Express coach near Piccadilly Gardens at 1.30pm.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene in Lever Street before being taken to hospital, suffering from a head injury.

Oldham Street and Dale Street were closed for three hours while police carried out an investigation.

PC Philip Shaw said:  “We are doing all we can to piece together the circumstances that led to the incident.”
