The magic of the FA Cup is back, and teams across the North West of England will be hoping to continue their dreams and slay some giants.

Stockport recorded their third consecutive 2-0 FA cup triumph at Edgeley Park at the weekend, defeating Northern League Division One side Bishop Auckland to advance into the competition's First Round proper for the first time since 2012.

Two goals from pacey in-form winger Danny Lloyd set Stockport up for a tasty home draw at Conference Premier League boys Woking.

Macclesfield Town eased past North Ferriby United with a comprehensive 4-1 victory away from home with top scorer Danny Whitaker bagging two of the four goals.

The Silkmen will now travel to mid-table League One side Walsall, which will prove to be a stern test for the Conference Premier side despite their current form in the league – currently sitting in 5th position.

Curzon Ashton, who currently play in English football’s ninth-tier, shocked former League side York City in new boss Gary Mills’ first game in charge, to progress into the first round proper of the FA cup.

The Nash forced a replay at home following the 1-1 draw at Bootham Crescent on October 15. In the replay, goals from Niall Cummins and Alex Brown cancelled out Richard Brodie’s penalty and sent the Nash into a clash against the lowest rank side currently left in the competition, Westfield’s FC.

An early goal for Matlock Town wasn’t enough to fend off a revitalised Altrincham side. Alty who’ve had a slow start to the season, have been building on results in recent weeks, with 2-0 and 3-0 wins respectively.

Goals from Damian Reeves and two from Sean Miller sealed the victory and will send Alty down to Lincolnshire to face a strong Lincoln side pushing for their football league status once again.
