Borussia Monchengladbach sign Manchester United youngster Dillon Hoogewerf

  • 18 year old leaves the club after two-and-a-half years

Manchester United forward Dillion Hoogewerf has joined Borussia Monchengladbach for an undisclosed fee.

The 18 year old leaves the club after two and a half years, after initially joining from Ajax in 2019.

When the 2021/2021 season began the youngster struggled and was confined to competing in the under- 18s team.

He improved in form late in the season, ending with 12 goals and 11 assists.

This saw him being promoted to the under-23s squad beginning the 2021/2022 season.

Hoogewerf had started six games, getting two goals and one assist before joining the German side.

United were known to be wary about the deal. Bundesliga clubs have previously been known to acquire the best and brightest within the English game, Jadon Sancho being a prime example.

United included multiple clauses in the contract, including a sell-on clause, and receiving a fee if Hoogewerf is to be loaned out in the future.

He will initially join Monchengladbach’s development side and look to work his way up through the club.
