Manchester City Council plans to transform city’s Northern Quarter into Northern Third

  • Leaked documents reveal plans for a complete overhaul of Manchester city centre

Manchester’s Northern Quarter is set to undergo a revolutionary rebrand as the city’s trendiest neighbourhood becomes the Northern Third.

Leaked documents from Manchester City Council detail plans that show the newly-expanded NT boundary will now include Ancoats, which is set to be consigned to the history books.

The move comes in response to a TravelSupermarket list that placed Ancoats and the Northern Quarter at seventh and nineteenth for ‘hipsterness’ respectively.

Manchester City Council reportedly want to topple said index by early 2020 and are willing to do whatever it takes.

The documents detail investment totalling £4.7million in craft ale breweries and gin distilleries.

Manchester City Council spokesperson April Joshin said:

“The future of Manchester’s economy rests upon its ability to offer the trendiest lifestyle around.

“This development is just another example of how this unique city continues to innovate and adapt to popular culture in the United Kingdom.”
