Manchester charity delivers over £36m to local activities since launching

A Manchester charity has been raising money to fund local activities across Greater Manchester.

Set up in 1989, Forever Manchester supports a wide range of projects for young abd old people, the homelessness, cancer support projects, and many more.

The charity works with local neighbourhoods to ensure their projects can become reality. Since its launch, Forever Manchester has contributed more than £36m into local communities which has benefited 1.1m people.

One of their many upcoming events is a comedy show featuring Chris Washington, Stephen Bailey, and Allyson June Smith. The show, Forever Funny, will be at The Frog and Bucket, on 9 May. All profits from the ticket sales go to the charity. 

James Hampson, business development manager, said:  “The best thing about working at FM is the sense of pride the whole team has in the work we do.  It comes from knowing that we are helping local people to make  a real difference to where they live. 

“Our Community Building Initiative has probably been the biggest in terms of projects we have carried out. It saw us working in communities, meeting 1000’s of people and helping to kick start 100’s of new community initiatives.”

Each year, Forever Manchester holds fundraising events in order to continue supporting community events. Donations are also welcome from individuals or companies.

James added: “The best way would be to help raise funds so we can support more groups.  To do that you could do a 10k or other challenge, attend our events or organise your own, or just do something mad and get people to sponsor you!”
