LSK Kvinner 0-5 Manchester City Women: match report
- Goals galore as City put five past Norwegian side
- First leg win is a European record for the Women’s Super League Champions
Last night Manchester City Women travelled to Norway for their last 16 first leg tie against LSK Kvinner, in the Women’s Champions League.
City displayed a dominant performance with goals from Demi Stokes, Claire Emslie, Izzy Christiansen and two from Jane Ross.
Left back Stokes capitalised from a failed Kvinner clearance and drove the ball into the net with her left foot. Kvinner goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand would be in for a busy night.
Christiansen stepped up to the mark and converted the spot kick. Christiansen is City’s leading scorer this season with a total of seven goals in all competitions.
The half ended with City two to the good, but there was more to come.
Just over an hour into the game City replaced Nikita Parris for Claire Emslie. After only being on the field for eight minutes the Scottish forward added a third goal for City with a curling effort.
Karen Bardsley returned to Champions League action for City, having missed the last 32 tie against St. Polten due to injury. City’s number one was barely called upon as Kvinner only managed one shot on target during the game.
After Emslie netted for City, fellow Scot Ross put the game to bed with two headed efforts in four minutes. The goals give City a huge advantage going into next Thursdays second leg at the Academy Stadium.
