Liverpool secures treble winner Thiago to delight of Reds fans
- Spanish midfield dynamo, Thiago Alcântara, pens a heartfelt letter to Bayern Munich fans as he leaves for Liverpool
- The deal is reported to be worth around £20m with a guaranteed £5m in add-ons
- Supporters at Anfield are delighted with latest signing
Jurgen Klopp’s side have made their second signing of this transfer window securing Champions League winner Thiago Alcântara on a four-year deal.
The midfield maestro will join the Reds’ captain, Jordan Henderson, in central midfield, alongside other potential partners: Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Naby Keita and Dutch international Gigi Wijnaldum whose future at the club is still yet uncertain.
Thiago departed the current German champions, Bayern Munich, in what he described in a moving letter to fans as the most difficult move of his career.
He continues showing gratitude for the lessons he learnt at the club and the fact he has found a forever home in Bavaria. The transfer came as a shock to some fans.
Thiago played an instrumental part in winning the treble last season, taking home the Bundesliga title, the DFB-Pokal and an undefeated campaign saw them bag the Champions League – Bayern’s second European treble.

While fans over at the Allianz Arena may be feeling blue, the red side of the Mersey is optimistic about the move.
One lifelong red, Jack Roberts, 23, is overjoyed by the transfer, saying: “The Klopp effect is in full swing,” continuing to describe Thiago as simply, “mustard… nothing short of world class, he makes the game look so easy.”
Alcântara will wear the number six for Liverpool as they look to continue their successful start to the season with two big upcoming games against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea and Mikael Arteta’s Arsenal.
