  • 372 plants seized worth £12k
  • One man arrested and later bailed over class B drug charge

Police in Bury raided on four different properties last night with more than 372 plants seized.

Police estimate that the drugs have an estimated street value of £1m.

During the raids in Bury south, three large cannabis cultivations were discovered in the houses.

One man was arrested in one of the properties tand was charged with producing class B drugs and later remanded.

A sttement issued by police said: “These types of crimes run through organised crime groups which brings threats to the area and pose risks to the community,.

“We will continue to tackle the illegal production of cannabis and information from the public helps us to do so.”

The public are encouraged to report production or supply of drugs anonymously via Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111.

The raids last night follow a similar raid last month on a property in Thatch Leach Lane which saw more than 150 cannabis plants seized in multiple production rooms. In similar circumstances one man was arrested with enquiries ongoing.

The production and supply of cannabis is illegal in the UK under the Misuse of drugs act 1971 which can carry a jail term of 14 years if found in possession of class B drugs and an unlimited fine if not both.

Drug raids have been on the rise since lockdown with seven raids occuring last month in the north west alone.
