It might only be November but on Saturday Albert Square will be lit up as part of the big Christmas lights switch-on in Manchester.
Hosting the show will be Key 103’s breakfast show DJs Mike Toolan and Matt Haslam, with the help of Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent.
With performances from DJ Sigala, Tokio Myers, and up-and-coming boy band Yes Lad from the X Factor to entertain the crowds, the night is full of treats.
The musical cast of Elf: The Musical, Guys and Dolls and Shrek will grace the stage with their talented cast sining and dancing and with real life reindeers, the Christmas spirit will be felt by all.
After the lights are turned on there will be a 10-minute firework display.
Councillor Pat Karney said: “Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year and we have a show that will open the festive season in real style. We have chart-topping pop stars, the casts from the biggest shows of the season, and incredible dancers and performers. We are in for a real treat.”
The show starts at 7.30pm and is free but people are being warned that once the square reaches capacity, access will be restricted. Bag searches will be in operation and people are being advised to leave their bags at home.
