Cash prizes to be won by GM artists via Manchester Independents open call for commissions

• A four-month long programme has been launched by Manchester Independents
• The group is looking to showcase new artistic talent which highlights the creativity and will receive monetary incentive
• Proposals for new work must be completed in 2023 in any art form

Manchester Independents (MI) 2023 are taking applications from new and established artists to provide work in any artform.

Successful applicants will be eligible to receive space, advice, equipment and monetary funding. These will be taken from a pot of resources collected from Greater Manchester’s arts and cultural organisations.

Certain conditions must be met, and proposed work must be led by Greater Manchester artists and creatives but can involve GM communities.

The art must be new – either yet to be created or in development as long as it hasn’t been shown publicly yet.

The team is hoping it will have a public outcome between 1 June and 30 September 2023.

MI is especially hoping that applicants from currently under-represented communities apply. This is to overcome social, financial, cultural and religious barriers or those with educational disadvantages.
