Andy Burnham is set to hit the decks of Poynton Sports Club at a Dance for Change event.
The event is to raise money for Macclesfield Labour Party’s election campaign fund and for local foodbank Silklife.
The event, organised by Poynton and Disley Labour Party, takes place on the 13th of April. It’s not the first time the Greater Manchester mayor has danced for change – previously Burnham has gone up against Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotheram in a battle of the Cities and danced the night away in a set at Ramona in Ancoats.
Party member and local election candidate, Amy House, organised the event alongside branch secretary Dave Griffiths. She explained the idea came about through a desire to do a fundraising event for the CLP, and asked Burnham for ideas, “I asked If he’d be happy to come to Poynton to do a fundraising dinner and he said I would much rather do a DJ set.”
The plan is for “Manchester music and a bit of Northern Soul,” Amy added.
Local band North Room are also scheduled to play, alongside a BBQ and raffle by local business Butchers Block.
Event tickets are on sale now.
