How will tomorrow’s rail strikes impact commuters in and around Manchester?
- More rail strikes are set to cause disruption in the North West this week
- Industrial action has been announced by many rail companies including Avanti West Coast and CrossCountry
- TUC North West are set to march from St Peter’s Square today
- Train strikes set for tomorrow (1 Feb) and Friday (3 Feb)
- 15 companies will not be running services including TransPennine Express and CrossCountry railways
- Picket line to take place at St Peter’s Square at 12.30pm
Train strikes have been announced by both The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) and The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) unions this week.
Strikes have been announced to take place tomorrow (1 February) and Friday (3 February), though services may be affected throughout the entire week.
Affected services
National Rail has confirmed the following companies will not be running any services:
- Avanti West Coast
- Chiltern Railways
- CrossCountry
- East Midlands Railway
- Gatwick Express
- Great Northern
- Heathrow Express
- Island Line
- London Northwestern Railway
- Northern
- Southeastern
- Southern
- Thameslink
- TransPennine Express
- West Midlands Railway
Other companies such as LNER, Greater Anglia & Stansted Express and Great Western Railway will be running limited services on these days.
Any train companies not listed above will be running services as normal.
Timetabling and operating hours will be significantly affected. Check the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner for updated times on strike day services.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is advising passengers to avoid travelling on these days if possible and check the status of their rail journey before travel.
