NQ's Charlotte Puckering caught up with Maxine Peake, who has been made a Patron of the GM Law Centre.
Maxine, famous for her roles in Shameless, Silk, and Dinnerladies, told the NQ how it is "criminal" that the Government have cut funding to legal aid.
Inspired by her political beliefs, and by her left-leaning political friends, Maxine became a Patron to try and help raise awareness of the impact the cuts are having to those who cannot afford legal aid.
