Do you know someone under 25 living in Salford? Do you know a young star? Someone who has overcome huge challenges, is a young carer or fundraiser or an up and coming talent?
If so, and they live in Salford, then Salford City Council would like to hear about them.
Three of Salford’s most inspiring under 25s are being sought by the Council to star in a film to mark an international day dedicated to celebrating young people.
Youth Day, which will be celebrated around the globe on Saturday, 12 August, focuses on celebrating the achievements and contribution young people make to our society.
In Salford, the day will be celebrated with a launch party on Thursday, August 10, with the main day of activities organised by young people for young people and their community on Friday, August 11.
The three-minute film will be made by local students from the UTC@MediaCityUK and will be shown at the Youth Day launch party after its three young stars are chosen from public nominations.
Councillor Lisa Stone, lead member for children’s and young people’s services, said: “We’re looking to recognise the young people who inspire their family, friends, teachers and communities because of who they are and what they do. It could be anything that makes a difference and makes you proud of them.
“We want to show the public just how amazing young people are in Salford and how much they achieve and do for their family, friends and community.”
Nominations are now open and will be taken until Friday, 17 February and can be made online here where you can also see last year’s film.
