What brings you to Manchester? Vox pop at Piccadilly station
- NQ went down to Piccadilly Station to interview some commuters and find out what they were up to in the northern capital

Manchester Piccadilly, the north’s biggest train station, sees over 30m entries and exits each year. We went to go and interview some of them to see what they were doing in the city.
Claire Simmons, 35, fundraising for BBC Children in Need said: “Yeah, it’s been good. There’s been a bit of both” regarding whether the public were donating or in a rush.
Eli and Kelly, from Blackpool were visiting Manchester to see the musical Waitress last night.
“It was amazing!” she said.
They arrived yesterday morning and are going back tonight. When asked if they preferred the city to Blackpool, they responded with “oh, absolutely.” They are frequent visitors as “Manchester is better for concerts and big events”.
Sioned, 18 from Wales was on her way home from Sheffield, transferring at Piccadilly on the way. She is a first year student at the University of Sheffield, where she is doing Childhood Studies, hoping to be a primary school teacher one day.
Joe had come to town for work, commuting everyday from his home “by the train station” in Liverpool. He is self-employed in the sales and marketing industry.
Eric was also working, and was in a bit of a hurry. He had “just arrived in town.” He lives near a tram, so it is not a long commute for him.
