Police appeal for information following death of man in Bolton earlier this year

Police are appealing for information after the death of Steven Percival, from Great Lever,  who died earlier this year.

Steven Percival, who was admitted to hospital on the 25th April 2016 with a brain injury, passed away on Tuesday the 5th July 2016.

Steven, who was affectionately known by friends as ‘Percy’, was 40-years-old at the time of his death. Yesterday, Wednesday the 12th October 2016, would have been his 41st birthday.

It is believed that he sustained his head injury within a week prior to his initial hospital attendance.

Detectives investigating his death are now appealing for anyone with information about how Steven became injured to contact police.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 57-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice. Both have been bailed until 24 October 2016 pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Nick Haigh of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “This has been a quite complex investigation so far and our enquiries are continuing.

“Today would have been Steven’s birthday, which is a day he could have been spending with his family who have been left absolutely devastated by their loss.

"Our condolences remain with them at this tough time and we have specially trained officers providing them with support.

“I would like to urge anybody with information about Steven’s injuries that they believe can assist us to please contact police.”

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 3400 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
