How Are You campaign launched to help care workers in the UK
- Northern Quota launches its campaign to give care workers more mental health help today.
- The student lead organisation called How Are You aims to make mental health care compulsory for care home workers within the UK.
- Just over 70% of care home workers said their job has had a negative impact on their mental health; including, depressive symptoms, emotional stress and clinical depression. We can change this.
There are around seven million carers in the UK. They dedicate their lives to taking care of other people’s loved ones and looking after them to the best of their ability. How Are You is calling for greater mental health support for all care home workers in the UK.
We want to make it compulsory that every care home in the UK has a mental health specialist visit once every three months. Not all workers will have to speak to them if they don’t want to – but the option needs to be readily available.
Understanding toward mental health is improving, such campaigns as Time To Change have pulled the public eye to the issue, some employers are catching on quickly. We aim to push them further into the right direction. Please sign our petition, follow our social medias and keep the conversation going.
