Wigan Warriors and Hull KR set for Old Trafford this weekend for the Grand Final

Old Trafford will play host to Hull KR and Wigan Warriors in the super league Grand Final on Saturday.

The expected crowd is meant to be over 65,000 according to Love Rugby League, which would be the biggest turn out since 2017.

Hull KR will be hoping to replicate some of the grit that they showed on Friday night.

Hard work

The head coach of the Rovers reinforced this in his post match conference on Friday, talking to Serious about rugby league Willie Peters said this: “It’s been a lot of hard work to get here and as you saw tonight, the players worked extremely hard to hang onto the lead they had.”

Hard work alone won’t win it for them though and they will look to star man Mikey Lewis to bring his quality.

Mikey Lewis is the winner of the Man Of Steel, a trophy recognising the best player in the league each season proves and has plenty of quality. Lewis scored 19 tries and recorded 21 assists during the season and will be hoping to add to that tally this weekend.

Wigan Warriors

The battle of the borough ended up being a one sided affair with Wigan beating Leigh 38-0 last Saturday.

They are the defending champions and are looking to complete a historic quadruple after winning the League leaders shield, Challenge cup and World club challenge already this season. If they do so they will be the first to do it since the Bradford Bulls did so back in 2003

Matt Peet, head coach of Wigan Warriors ,was asked about his final opponents talking to Wigan Today during the pre final press conference: “You kind of know what to expect from one another, but it’s all about who can handle that the best and can get the closest to their best game”.

The two met in round 25 where the warriors came out on top with a 22-20 victory. This being a final, however, Peet is predicting it will be a different challenge, one about handling the occasion.
