A man offered a young woman a lift home before locking her in his car and raping her, a court heard.
Andrew Green, 44, of Howe Bridge Close, Bolton was jailed yesterday for six years and nine months at Bolton Crown Court after pleading guilty to rape.
Green trapped the 18-year-old woman in his Audi after she mistook it for her taxi after a night out in July.
Judge Elliot Knopf heard that on 15 July last year she was out with friends at a Leigh club before returning to a friend’s home in Atherton around 4.30am.
When the woman left her friend’s house, she walked to a bus stop on Tyldesley Road to wait for her taxi. Green arrived in his white Audi, and she got in thinking it was a taxi.
When she realised it was not a taxi, she discovered the doors were locked. Green became aggressive towards her then raped her.
DC Claire Hughes, of GMP’s Leigh CID, said: “Green spotted his victim and pursued her, knowing she had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.
“It’s absolutely sickening that he tried to portray himself as a Good Samaritan when his only intentions were rape.
“Thanks to the brave woman raising the alarm so quickly, we were able to move fast and find Green to help bring him into the justice system and see him jailed today.”
