8,000 join search for missing Radcliffe cockapoo Izzy

MORE than 8,000 people have joined a Facebook group for a missing cockapoo dog

Izzy disappeared 11 months ago and her family has put up hundreds of posters around the Radcliffe area and handed out thousands of leaflets to local businesses

A Fnd Izzy Facebook page has been picking up as many as 700 shares a day.

Dawn Purvis, husband Ian and children Lauren, 14 and Eve, eight, have been hunting for their five-year-old pooch since February 2015.

The beloved Cockapoo – a poodle and  Cocker Spaniel cross – went missing after builders let themselves into the family's home to do some work, triggering the alarm and frightening Izzy, causing her to flee.

The builders tried their best to catch the dog, but Izzy has not been seen since.

There have been several sightings of her, especially in  Outwood Road and Ringley Road in Radcliffe.

Lots of people have taken the story to heart, it’s really touched us

Ian, 44, said on Facebook: “It’s very humbling how so many people, most of whom we’ve never even met, have taken the time to help us – especially considering how many came out to help us on Sunday on such a miserable day.”

Izzy is described as very timid but friendly, with champagne coloured fur, a light brown nose and a bright pink collar.

The family believe somebody may have rehomed Izzy and constant appeals for whoever has her to ‘let her go’ are posted daily by Izzy’s family.

Dawn is making non-profit calendars for the New Year, which cost £5 with a £1 donation to a charity for dogs.

The calendar features Izzy’s picture along with other missing dogs in the area, and has been put together by 12 different owners who have all lost their pooches.

The family have made a film about Izzy to help in te search for the missing pooch.

In the most recent post, Dawn wrote:  "48 weeks – we cannot believe that it is nearly a year since we last saw our beautiful furbaby. These last 48 weeks have been so hard, our hearts are broken and our family will never be the same again."

The family are offering a £3,000 reward to anyone who finds Izzy.

Anyone with information about Izzy’s whereabouts should contact her owners on 07961 559 230 or via the Facebook page.
