A man has been charged with the murder of a “devoted family man” reportedly killed while trying to stop his car being stolen in Manchester.

Sutton, with no fixed abode, had his first appearance at Tameside Magistrates’ Court today (19 March).
Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family’s heartbreaking tribute
Mr Hanley’s family are left devastated after the sudden loss.
In a tribute issued through police, the family described Chris as “a loved and devoted family man who adored his grandchildren, tragically and unfairly, taken way too soon”.
A 43-year-old man remains on bail on suspicion of assisting an offender.
GMP detectives continue to investigate this weekend’s incident and have asked anyone with information that may help come forward.
