Moss Side and MSV housing gather for spring clean

Residents from the community and Moss Side Labour party termed up with Biffa to make their neighbourhood a cleaner and safer place.

Mosscare St Vincents (MSV) housing group organised the clean-up and Biffa supplied the essentials for the spring clean when residents picked up litter from the streets. They event was labelled ‘The Big Bag Challenge’.

The challenge takes place every year and this is their ninth time in action.

Fly-tipping in Manchester reached an all-time high in 2023 with 51,276 incidents of illegal dumping, a 6% increase on the previous year.

MSV, which is located in Moss Side, asked residents which types of services they would like to see around the community, which lead to the spring clean.

The team met up on Claremont Road to collect cleaning supplies.

Residents also spoke with locals about anti-social behaviour and discussed what they can do to reduce this type of behaviour.

Moss care St.Vincents housing group also provide regular opportunities for their residents to speak freely about any issues they may have.
