1st Half

A quick start from both saw Stockport control most of the play while Village FC successfully pressed, winning the ball in good positions.

Stockport Warriors didn’t take long to show their aggressive play style, physically challenging Village FC up and down the pitch.

However, the boys in yellow held their own and produced the first goal of the game in the 25th minute.

A mistake by the Stockport keeper allowed Village to loop the ball over to striker, Ryan Haywood, who showed brilliant composer to place the ball into an empty net.

From this point, AFC Stockport began to build momentum, creating a flurry of chances before half time.

However, a mixture of brave defending and confident goal keeping kept Village FC 1-0 up as the game reached the break.

2nd Half

Hostility between the sides continued into the second half with both teams having their say.

But if anyone looked like scoring it was Village FC. Some great link up plays just outside the box between Haywood and Hewitt gave glimpses of a second goal in the 55th minute.

Nonetheless, just a few moments later Stockport Warriors showed their teeth and found an equaliser.

Village keeper, David Sedrick, pulled off one or two great saves but to his disappointment he couldn’t keep them out.

A third attempt at goal saw Stockport’s number 10 place the ball into the bottom left with ease to make it 1-1.

As the game reached its final stages Village FC nearly found a winner from close range as the keeper made a point blank save at his near post in the 75th minute.

Though it wasn’t to be as striker Azeez Ibisomi scored the winner for Stockport with just five minutes to go.

A skill full turn inside the box allowed him to trickle the ball past the keeper, even with his back to goal, making it 2-1 to AFC Stockport Warriors.
