Six of the best! Opening day joy for hat-trick hero Luca Radojevic

  • Man Met FC begin the season with a confident 6-0 win at home
  • Striker Radojevic the hat-trick hero

Man Met FC 1st team began their BUCS Men’s Northern Tier 3 season with a convincing 6-0 win against UCLan’s 2nd team.

A clinical goal by centre forward Luca Radojevic put Man Met ahead in the fifth minute.

A brilliant inswinging corner caused chaos for UCLan’s defence as they failed to clear the ball from the 18-yard box. Radojevic seized on the mistake and eased the ball into the back of the net.

Man Met struck again three minutes later as Oliver Putnam took on two defenders in the box then hit the ball beautifully across the UCLan goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Man Met created chance after chance and eventually their persistence paid off.

Another corner caused trouble for UCLan’s defence and once again Radojevic spotted his chance, flicking the ball past the keeper with a delightful backheel to make it 3-0 with just fifteen minutes gone.

UCLan struggled to find their rhythm but their high press kept Man Met at bay until a brilliant pass from midfield cut through their defence and found Putnam through on goal.

The left winger then skilfully took it round the goalkeeper before squaring it to Radojevic. The striker couldn’t have wished for an easier chance to complete his hat-trick on the opening day and made it 4-0.

After a couple of great chances in the second half for UCLan, Man Met made it five 10 minutes from time as right winger Mark Faflik calmly slotted past the keeper following a low cross into the box.

The game was put to bed in the 87th minute when substitute Jayden Bailey-Hunter managed to fumble the ball into the back of the net to make it 6-0.

The win takes Man Met to the top of the table after just one game played and will give them confidence going into their trip to Bangor Men’s 1st team next Wednesday 20 October (5:00pm kick off).
