Vote now to help name Stockport town centre square after a community hero’s name

  • Regeneration council project of public square connecting Prince’s street and new Redrock development
  • People asked to nominate a significant Stockport resident for their actions and efforts towards thier community
  • The council will name the square after the local hero nominated by the public

Calling all Stopfordians, do you know a local hero or heroine? Do you want to let them know they are a treasure to their community?
People are being asked to vote for a community hero and help name Stockport council’s regeneration square.

Stockport Council is creating a public square to connect Prince’s Street and Redrock.  The council would like to name the square after a local resident whose life has held community significance.

The individual should have a connection to Stockport, but most of all their actions, living or in memory of, should hold meaning.

The deadline for submissions is midnight on 25 February.

Councillor Kate Butler said, “Regeneration is first and foremost about people and that’s why we want the people of Stockport to help us name this new square. We want to hear your story about someone important to you and why you think the square should be named after them. It might be someone everyone knows or simply someone important to you. You could even nominate yourself! What’s most important is the story behind your nomination.”
