Loose Space is finally being evicted from the old Cornerhouse Cinema.

Earlier this month, the NQ reported that squatters had taken over the old abandoned cinema on Oxford Road and turned it into an "autonomous space," for art, music and fraternity.

The enterprise has gone without a single incident for the entirety of the time the collective were in control of the iconic Mancunian building. No arrests, no violence, no property destruction.

The response from the local community has been largely positive, with one activist telling the NQ that the council had been in touch with the collective about keeping on some of the art directors and preserving the building as an autonomous space for the public to get creative.

The group are being evicted later today, so they have been ensuring that the building is left in the same, if not a better, condition it was in when they found it. This seems to accurately represent the ethos of Loose Space.
