A train driver was taken to hospital after being rained on with shards of glass when a brick was hurled at his windscreen.
A reward of £1,000 has been offered by train operator Northern to anyone who can help convict the people responsible for the incident on Friday.
The driver, who has not been named, is now recovering at his home after being treated in hospital with facial injuries and urges people to “stop taking risks on the railway”.
The brick was thrown at the train as it was travelling towards Clifton in Salford at around 10pm on Friday.
Northern’s regional director, Chris Jackson, said: “We need to find them before they do something similar.
“It’s hard to believe that anyone would put the safety of others at risk by such reckless behaviour.
“Officers are investigating,and I am appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
“This was a shocking incident that could have had fatal consequences.”
