Police searching for men armed with Samurai swords after they went on crime spree in Salford

  • Three men armed with Samurai swords and crowbars robbed a series of pubs in Salford
  • One of the criminals has been caught, police are now appealing for witnesses to help locate the remaining men

The GMP are appealing for information after three men wearing balaclavas robbed several pubs in Salford with weapons, including a Samurai sword.

Late on Sunday 9 April, the criminals, brandishing weapons, robbed the ​​​​​Henry Boddington’s pub on Bolton Road in Swinton, and Worsley Old Hall on Walkden Road in Worsley.

Police believe that the two robberies are linked and are now appealing to anyone with information to get in touch. 

One of the men is described as being white, of slim build, and was wearing light blue clothes and a balaclava. He spoke with a Manchester accent. 

The second man is described as being of stocky build, and was wearing a balaclava, a bandana face covering, and light blue clothes. 

Detective constable Derek Nellany of GMP’s Salford Borough said: “Fortunately, no-one was hurt in either robbery but staff suffered tremendous shock and psychological trauma after being threatened by masked men with Samurai swords. 

“If have any information about either robbery I would urge you to contact police on 0161 856 5049, 101 quoting incident number 2678 of 09/04/17 with information about the Bolton Road robbery or 2763 of 09/04/17 with information about the Walkden Road robbery.
