  • Covid-19 has disruopted Camerata's usual schedule with may performances cancelled
  • They have created a Digital Film series to stream online
  • Streaming of series begins this week

Manchester Camerata orchestra is premiering a new digital film series this week to engage with Manchester residents during the pandemic.

As an orchestra with artists, creative thinkers and storytellers, Manchester Camerata works with a variety of different artists to break the norms and the beliefs about orchestral music.

Their aim is to change what it means to be part of an orchestra.

Usually, over the course of the calendar year, the organisation works to bring the public a range of shows including performances at Glastonbury and special appearances at the Royal Albert Hall.

However, this year has presented new challenges with the Coivd-19 pandemic. The outbreak has resulted in no shows being allowed to be perform in front of an audience.

Many planned shows have had to postponed or cancelled in line with government guidelines.

The charity has created a digital film series called Untold to tell the personal stories of people in the community, through the medium of  storytelling, prose and music.

By addressing personal topics that matter the most to people, including identity, belonging, loss, love, community and inequality, Gábor Takás-Nagy, the musical director of the organisation, says the goal of each film is “to heal through music”.

The films fuse music, spoken word, film and multi-camera work and the first episode of the series will stream at 8pm on  Thursday (1 October) at 8pm 1 October on United We Stream. Visist https://manchestercamerata.co.uk/
