Legend of Kage

The Legend of Kage returns on Nintendo Switch

  • Arcade Archives: The Legend of Kage has just been released on Nintendo Switch
  • The new port will cost £6.29

HAMSTER is back with yet another arcade port, this time bringing over Taito’s ‘The Legend of Kage’.

The game was originally released back in 1985, and features the titular ninja Kage on his quest to save Princess Kiri.

The game will cost £6.29 to download on the Nintendo eEhop, and two variants of the game are included – one with MSM5232 chip audio and the other with YM2203.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a straight arcade port, not including any of the newer elements introduced in later ports and revisions of the game, such as the extra characters, Ayane and Ganin, and the extra boss featured in the Taito Nostalgia 1 TV plug and play games, nor the 3D graphics from the PSP port, although that’s probably a good thing.

Hopefully this re-release will help bring the series a little more popularity, as 2008’s The Legend of Kage 2 on Nintendo DS was an underrated gem, and it’d be great to see another entry in the series, or even just a port of 2 to Switch.
