Greg Dunnings wins Bolton’s Strongman competition

Greg Dunnings retained his Bolton's Strongest Man title, beating three records he set last year.

One of Britain's biggest and best-known amateur Strongman championships returned this weekend for a family-fun, community inspired event of weightlifting and strongmen events.

The event took place in the recently revamped USN Arena (formerly Bolton Arena).

Greg Dunnings was the standout performer, winning every event (including: overhead press, weighted shotput, axel, timed Celtic strength hold, and vehicle pull) convincingly.

"I'm really happy to retain my title. I had to work hard for it.

"I beat my personal best in the deadlift, axel press and shot put. It's a good feeling to win again!"

The special guest for the competition, eleven times World’s Strongest Man title holder Mark Felix, was really impressed Greg Dunning's performance:

"He was very consistent, and the most experienced guy out there. He did really well.

"The Event is great for the community, it's nice to see it getting bigger every year!"

The event perfectly encapsulated the Bolton community, with a variety of stalls and activities to keep the children occupied while the adults watched the strongest men Bolton had to offer sweating it out to try and knock Greg off his podium.

The event is sponsored by local Bolton firms Cole Security Services, 247 Gymwear and Bizspace. For more information about future events, go to www.facebook.com/Strongmanbolton and www.boltontownshow.co.uk
