The people of Manchester once again showed their strength and unity by coming together to hold a minute’s silence for the victims of Monday’s terrorist attack on the city.

Hundreds descended on the Square to lay flowers, candles and messages for the 22 who tragically went to a music concert and never came back.

The silence lasted far longer than a minute, with a defiant round of applause erupting from the crowd, showing the world that Manchester stands stronger together.

Elsewhere in the city’s open spaces, people gathered to share the minute’s silence with others. Students and staff at Manchetser Metropolitan University gathered in All Saints Park on Oxford Road.
