Party Protest Manchester holding special Christmas dinner for homeless

  • Christmas can be a devastating time for the most vulnerable members of society
  • Party Protest Manchester, however, are challenging this difficult time for Manchester's homeless head-on with their 2nd Annual Special Christmas Dinner

Manchester-based protest group, Party Protest Manchester, are holding a very special Christmas Dinner for Manchester's homeless.

Nandos will be supplying the food for the Dinner, with the event also being sponsored by Go Outdoors and the University of Manchester. The Dinner is to be held in Manchester's Cross St. Chapel

Members of the public are welcome to come and spend time together with the homeless.

One of the event's organisers, Emma Leyla Mohareb spoke to The NQ about the event: "We are just asking people to come down and get involved really. We want to make this a nice Christmas for the homeless in manchester."

The Festive period can be particularly difficult for the homeless, who not only have to contend with the harsh winter weather but also loneliness: "We're not asking for money of anyone, we just want people to come down, have food and talk to the homeless. It's lonely on the streets and we really want to make sure it's not lonely over Christmas!"

We are also asking people to bring a present to give to the person they eat with.

"If people want to donate we are asking for things like jumpers, coats, clothes, flasks, rucksacks, hats, scarves and gloves.  Dogs clothes and treats are also welcomed!

The Special Christmas Dinner is going to be held on Monday 19 December from 12-4pm, and extra information is available from the event's Facebook page

The NQ will be reporting live from the event, with a full video-report to follow!
