Campaign launched to educate public about vegan lifestyle

  • NQ today officially launched it's Veggie Life campaign
  • Led by NQ reporter Jessica Leed, the campaign hopes to educate the public about the benefits of a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle

Vegetarian and vegan lifestyles are on the rise. In 2006, 150,000 people in the UK had already adopted this lifestyle. This has now risen to 542,000 people making a 360% increase.

Although that is an amazing achievement, it’s not enough and we need these numbers to keep increasing!

Veggie Life is a campaign hoping to inspire, encourage and educate you on a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle and the importance it is not only for animal welfare, but also protecting our environment.

Many people are uneducated on exactly what goes on in the animal industry and the detrimental effects it can have on our health. The limited education means that the meat industry will keep thriving and therefore the animals, our health and the environment will all suffer massively.

Animal are subjected to a life of imprisonment, torture to then be slaughtered after their short, painful lives and all to make a profit and a ‘tasty’ meal. With so many alternatives to meat, there really isn’t any reason why we shouldn’t all at least give try to adopt this amazing lifestyle.

Veggie Life spoke to the Food Standards Agency which exposed the cruel truth of what is deemed ‘acceptable’ in the UK today regarding slaughter houses.

Through research, Veggie Life has discovered that more people are interested in a Vegetarian/Vegan lifestyle. All that is missing is the correct education and that is what Veggie Life hopes to give to its readers.
